WORLD'S LONGEST SNAKE

WORLD'S LONGEST CANOE

The Chundan Vallam (Beaked Boat) known to outside world as Kerala snake boats has the record as "the biggest water vessel used for sports purpose". Chundan Vallam is one of the icons of Kerala culture used in Vallamkali (boat race). Constructed according to specifications taken from the Sthap Athya Veda, an ancient treatise for the building of wooden boats. These boats are about 100 to 138 ft in length, with the rear portion towering to a height of about 20 ft. and a long tapering front portion. It resembles a snake with its hood raised. Its hull is built of planks precisely 83 feet in length and six inches wide. The boats float low in the water and have a long curving stern. The prow is pointed in shape or may have a decorative knob at the end. The prow rides low in the water with the length of the Snake Boat extending behind it.

WORLD'S LONGEST RAILWAY PLATFORM

The longest railway platform in the world (1,072 metres, or 3,538 feet) is at Kharagpur, West Bengal (India). The platform was originally 716m long. It's length was extended twice, once to 833m and then to its present length. Excluding subway platforms (the Chicago subway has the longest one), Kharagpur has the longest railway platform in the world. Kharagpur is located in the Midnapore West district of the state of West Bengal. It is famous as the place where the first Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) was established.

WORLD'S LONGEST NAILS

Shridhar Chillal from Pune, near Bombay, holds the world record for the longest fingernails on a single hand. On 8 July 1998 the nails on his left hand were measured on the television show Guinness World Records : Primetime and found to have a total length of a staggering 6.15 m (20 ft 2.25 in). Since then, for the last 20 years, he has been a permanent fixture in the Guinness Book of World Records for having the world's longest nails. He does not grow the nails on his right hand.

Although Chillal is quite proud of his record breaking nails, he has had increasing difficulties with their weight, which has already caused his left fingers to become forever disfigured (and more or less useless). Due to nerve damage caused from the nails' immense weight, Chillal is permanently deaf in the left ear.

WORLD'S LONGEST VENOMOUS SNAKE

The King Cobra (Ophiophagus hannah) is the world's longest venomous snake, growing to a length of 5.7 m (18.5 ft) and a weight of up to 9 kg (20 lbs). This species is quite widespread, ranging throughout south-eastern Asia and into India. In India, it is mainly found near the foothills of the Himalayas. Its genus name, Ophiophagus, literally means "snake-eater", and its diet primarily consists of other snakes, including sizeable pythons and even smaller members of its own species. The venom of the King Cobra is primarily neurotoxic, and the snake is fully capable of killing a human with a single bite. A single bite from a King Cobra can deliver enough venom to kill a full-grown Asian Elephant within 3 hours if the larger animal is bitten in a vulnerable area such as the trunk.

WORLD'S LONGEST EAR HAIR

Radhakant Bajpai of Naya Ganj, Uttar Pradesh, India, has been recognized by Guinness World Records as having the world’s longest ear hair. The tufts coming out of the man’s ears measured an incredible 13.2 cm (5.19 in) at its longest point when he set the record in 2003.The length of the 50-year-old's pinna pelt was confirmed by medical examiner Dr. R P Gupta. "Making it to Guinness World Records is indeed a special occasion for me and my family," said Radhakant. "God has been very kind to me."
The hair has now grown to a much longer size. In fact, the hair is so long he has to shampoo and comb it.
